Icon Arc Leather Textile Hybrid Jacket Review
![]()
The Icon Arc motorcycle jacket combines the best of both motorcycle apparel materials - leather as well as textile. The Arc's hybrid characteristic makes it an attractive jacket for the rider that wants the protection of leather and the versatility of textile.
style
Icon continues to impress us with their unprecedented approach to the look of motorcycle gear. The Arc is no different, in fact it is one of their more stylish items yet.
To match their popular 'Seventh Seal' version of the Icon Airframe Helmet the Arc comes in the hell design to follow the same theme as the helmet.
The shoulder vents are stealthy hidden underneath a leather flap. Each arm has the Icon embroidered logo as well as the chest area and bottom of the back. For those that want a more quiet look, the black version of the jacket is not contrasted by any colors, allowing the embroidered logos to blend in with the rest of the jacket.
Detail is where Icon excels. A perfect example of this is the medal of St. Christopher (a saint who was said to protect travelers) that is kept close to your chest within a hidden pocket on the inside of the jacket.
features
The main feature of the Arc is it's 1.2-1.4mm premium leather impact areas (shoulders, elbows, forearms). This gives you the added protection of leather without having to sweat and withstand other weather elements of a 100% leather jacket.
The fit of this jacket is remarkably comfortable and adjusts to most body shapes. The accordion stretch panels at the neck, elbows, and waist area aid in this. The accordion stretch panel at at the back of the neck is of particular interest - as it aids in you being able to move your shoulders freely and comfortably.
Women will find the Arc comfortable if they are unsuccessful at fitting into one of Icon's women's jackets - a all too common complaint female riders have is that they cannot find the right fit - or the selection of colors are limited to pink and light purple.
The jacket is equipped with a removable liner for those chilly nights. Although it will keep you warm during late fall / early spring - it is still a three season jacket. In addition to keeping you toasty in the cold, the Arc also has perforated panels on the front as well as two shoulder vents and two back vents - allowing cool air to pass through the jacket keeping you at a comfortable temperature in the hot sun.
The arm sleeves are zippered allowing for a seamless connection with your gloves or alternatively to allow air up into the sleeve area. The zippers can also lock into place - in case you want to only zip them half way.
safety
The jacket features CE armor impact protection in both the elbows and shoulder areas as well as a dual-density foam back pad to protect your back.
As mentioned earlier, the shoulders, elbows, and forearms are lined with leather which is 1.2-1.4mm in thickness.
quality
The quality of the Arc is excellent. The leather material is woven deep into the jacket. The level of detail is definitely noticed as soon as you put the jacket on.
show me the money
For solid colors, the Icon Arc retails for USD $295, the Seventh Seal version (pictured above) retails for USD $360.
overall
The Icon Arc is the perfect jacket for those looking for leather protection and the versatility of textile. The jacket looks slick and has more features than other jackets twice the price. The fit and comfort of the jacket is remarkable due to the accordion stretch panels.
